Position Overview
The Fleet & Logistics Supervisor will report to the Director of Supply Chain and will oversee all logistics, fleet operations, and shipments, across multiple locations including cross-border operations ensuring efficient, safe and cost-effective movement of goods.
Key Responsibilities Fleet Management & Maintenance- Direct comprehensive fleet operations ensuring compliance with Steelcon policies and MTO regulations
- Maintain regulatory compliance (CVOR) and ensure adherence to safety regulations
- Oversee maintenance operations for tractors, trailers, and pickup trucks including maintenance scheduling & coordination
- Maintain accurate tractor, trailer, and truck maintenance records.
- Lead data driven fleet procurement strategy
- Coordinate Automated Fleet Management System implementation with IT
- Allocate equipment resources across Steelcon Group companies
- Review and approve invoices from carriers, service providers, and mechanics
- Optimize transportation costs through carrier consolidation and LTL strategies
- Manage gas cards and 407 transponders with invoice oversight
- Collaborate with admin/accounting teams to maintain MTO-compliant records
- Monitor KPIs such as delivery times, cost per mile, and fuel efficiency, implement improvements to boost performance.
- Oversee the Logistics Coordinator role while supporting freight scheduling and ensuring efficient, timely transportation operations.
- Coordinate with plant operations, field crews, and erection teams on delivery logistics
- Ensure timely pickup and delivery of all US shipments
- Provide trailer loading guidance and weight limit advisement
- Manage cross-border documentation and customs processes
- Facilitate daily permit requirements and accommodate urgent requests
- Conduct driver interviews ensuring competency standards
- Execute disciplinary protocols and maintain performance standards
- Manage accident response including tow coordination and statement collection
- Perform audits on driver logs, monitor Electronic Logging Devices for HOS violations
- Oversee complete employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding
- Facilitate safety training, driver orientation, and compliance education
- Maintain accurate driver abstracts, licensing records, and medical compliance per CVOR/MTO requirements
- Track, report, and investigate accidents, collisions, and traffic violations.
- Previous experience in fleet management, transportation compliance, or logistics is required.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario transportation regulations such as Highway Traffic Act (HTA) & Commercial Vehicle Operators Registration (CVOR).
- Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and strong communication skills
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to regularly travel to St. Catherines, Welland & Brampton.
