Job summary: As directed by the Warehouse Lead Hand, the shipper receiver is responsible for the effective and efficient execution of all aspects of the shipping and receiving activities.
Duties / Accountabilities- Receives, accounts for number of pieces, and distributes incoming shipments accurately.
- Checks customer order for accuracy (items and number of pieces).
- Packs, ships and generates proper documents such as dangerous goods waybills for outgoing shipments.
- Assists in maintenance functions as assigned by Warehouse Ops manager.
- Contacts carriers for pick‑ups using phone.
- Maintains Receipt Log Book and Pick Up Record Logs.
- Back‑up for Order Fillers.
- Responsible for inspection of trailers and products for GMP compliance.
- Manages conformance to all regulatory and GMP standards ensuring all required procedures are followed and required reporting is done on a timely basis. Participates and ensures direct report participation in annual GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) training.
- Provides information to the Warehouse Operations Manager, and/or Quality Assurance Manager regarding any unique situations (e.g., damaged stock).
- Uses material handling equipment.
- Other duties as required.
- Monitors temperature recorders to ensure measurement is ongoing.
- Change charts weekly.
- Log daily temperature.
- Report and document deviations.
- With the company:
Warehouse employees, Sales, Human Resources, I.T., RA/QA. - Outside the company:
Clients, customers, carriers, suppliers, contractors.
High school diploma.
Minimum Experience Required3 years warehouse operations experience plus 3 months on‑the‑job training, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills & Abilities- Be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions, interpret documents, and read, speak, write and understand standard English professional journals, technical procedures, and regulations.
- Be able to solve practical problems.
- Be able to perform basic arithmetic computations (add, subtract, multiply, divide using whole numbers, fractions, ratios, percentages, proportions, and decimals) and work with mathematical concepts.
- Be able to use phones, PCs, and other business machines, unassisted.
