Job Description

The Warehouse Supervisor oversees warehouse associates and forklift operators in a busy distribution centre, ensuring all warehouse operations run safely, accurately, and efficiently. This role manages receiving, inventory control, order fulfillment, shipping, and overall workflow to meet branch and customer requirements, while leading a high-performing team on the night shift.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily warehouse activities, including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Oversee warehouse associates and forklift operators, providing clear direction and support throughout each shift.
• Ensure orders are processed accurately, on time, and in full to support branch operations and meet customer expectations.
• Monitor workflow, staffing levels, and task allocation to maximize productivity and efficiency across the warehouse.
• Coordinate inbound and outbound freight activities with carriers and suppliers to maintain on-time deliveries and shipments.
• Manage inventory-related activities to support accurate stock levels and efficient order fulfillment.
• Support and drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline warehouse processes and reduce operational bottlenecks.
• Lead, coach, train, and motivate warehouse associates to build a strong, engaged, and high-performing team.
• Conduct regular performance reviews, provide ongoing feedback, and support professional development for team members.
• Schedule staff to ensure adequate coverage during peak business periods and adjust staffing as operational needs change.
• Promote and maintain a positive, safety-focused, and team-oriented culture throughout the warehouse.
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training new employees to ensure they are fully prepared for their roles.
• Maintain a safe and efficient warehouse environment by reinforcing safety standards and best practices.

Essential Skills

• 5–10+ years of experience as a warehouse supervisor or in warehouse management.
• Proven experience supervising teams of approximately 15–30 individuals in an operational setting.
• Experience in a distribution centre or third-party logistics (3PL) environment rather than a manufacturing facility.
• Strong logistics and operations management experience, including warehouse management and distribution management.
• Hands-on leadership approach with the ability to work alongside the team and lead by example.
• Experience in inventory management and shipping and receiving operations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and optimize warehouse workflows and staffing.
• Experience using various Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and/or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
• Strong supervisory skills with the ability to coach, train, and develop team members.
• Ability to work and lead effectively on a night shift schedule.

• Experience in a high-volume distribution centre or 3PL environment.
• Experience in continuous improvement or process optimization within warehouse operations.
• Comfort working with multiple systems and technologies related to warehouse and inventory management.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate effectively with carriers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
