Position: Computer Science | IT internship: Quantum literacy training for ASML engineers using QLP
Introduction
You will join the Hardware Simulation group within IT R&D Solution Delivery at ASML in Veldhoven. The team supports engineering simulations by providing scalable computing platforms for research and innovation.
Within the Converged Supercomputing Platform vision, the Quantum Learning Platform helps engineers explore quantum concepts safely.
This internship focuses on translating quantum theory into practical learning experiences for engineers without prior exposure.
Through this internship, you will help build shared understanding and realistic expectations of quantum computing.

Your assignment
During this internship, you will create a structured and approachable learning path for quantum computing fundamentals.
The focus is on hands‑on learning that fits the daily reality of busy engineers.
You will work with interactive notebooks and guided exercises that run in a safe simulation environment.
Your main responsibilities will be

Design a beginner‑friendly quantum learning track that builds intuition step by step.

Develop hands‑on exercises using interactive notebooks within the Quantum Learning Platform.

Create a runnable workshop format that engineers can follow independently or in small groups.

Explain clearly what quantum computing can and cannot deliver in engineering contexts.

Produce reusable training materials such as notebooks, short guides, and trainer notes.

Define simple ways to measure learning progress and training effectiveness.

This is a master internship (optional thesis) for minimum 4 months (hybrid).
The start date of this internship is as of September 2026. This intership is based in Veldhoven, the Netherlands.

Your profile
To be suitable for the internship, you:

Are enrolled in a master’s degree in physics, computer science, or a related technical field.

Have basic knowledge of quantum computing concepts such as qubits or simple circuits.

Have experience with Python and interactive notebook environments.

Communicate complex ideas clearly to people without a quantum background.

Take a proactive, structured, and collaborative approach to building learning content.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
