Role and responsibilities
With a strong position in semiconductor equipment market, the ASML Research department invents and develops new concepts and applications for future 2D patterning and 3D integration markets.

The mission of the Process and 3D Integration Modeling Researcher role is to conduct research that applies to ASML's holistic metrology, patterning, and 3D integration products, focusing on future applications in the semiconductor device manufacturing industry. This includes the development of process and integration models, designing wafer processing experiments, conducting literature studies, and creating innovative concepts and solutions.

Your responsibilities and daily activities will be:

Performing analysis using data from customer fabs and research fabs, figuring out hidden patterns and underlying physical implications, engaging advanced data analytics where helpful,

Developing computational models for processing steps, such as bonding, coating, polishing, and plasma etching, and organizing experiments for model validation and calibration,

Collaborating with other domain experts and application experts in the project team and in other departments of ASML, and with process integration engineers at research and customer fabs,

Generating new ideas and solutions for ASML’s current and future metrology, patterning, and 3D integration products.

Education
You hold a PhD in physics, chemistry, material science, applied mathematics or electrical engineering with experience in computational modeling / numerical simulations.

Experience

You possess a good experience in computational model development and calibration

You have a proven background in extracting simplified, yet reasonably accurate model representations from complex physical and/or chemical processes/reactions

You’re preferably experienced in cleanroom fabrication techniques or semiconductor manufacturing processing steps

Experience with ASML Overlay or Alignment analysis will be advantageous

The group “Resist and Process Technology” is responsible for innovations and knowledge generation in the area of computational lithography and 3D integration. The group takes a holistic view to semiconductor patterning and 3D integration, where optimizing all processing steps together can yield more than optimizing each processing step independently.
