Hazeltine Nurseries Inc. is a well-established landscape design-build company with over 40 years of excellence in transforming outdoor spaces. Located in Venice, Florida, we offer customized landscaping services and maintain a 90-acre nursery filled with high-quality plant material. We specialize in residential, commercial, and government landscape projects, offering hardscape, irrigation, lighting, and custom outdoor features.
Position Summary
The Landscape Designer is responsible for the planning, design, and development of outdoor spaces and related construction elements for residential, commercial, industrial, and governmental properties. This role requires a blend of creative design talent, technical skills, client relationship management, and sales expertise.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Design and develop plans for landscapes, hardscapes, trellises, gazebos, fencing, driveways, and related outdoor features.
- Collaborate with clients to assess needs, preferences, and site‑specific requirements.
- Coordinate with internal divisions, architects, and contractors throughout the design and construction process.
- Analyze site conditions, including soil composition, drainage, vegetation, and existing structures to prepare environmental reports and design plans.
- Produce site plans, construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, zoning laws, and environmental regulations.
- Oversee construction activities to ensure adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
- Conduct site visits to monitor project progress and resolve on‑site challenges.
- Manage client relationships and ensure customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Stay current on trends in landscape architecture and Florida‑specific plant materials and applications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Environmental Design, or related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in landscape architecture and design.
- Minimum of 5 years of proven sales experience in the landscape industry.
- Strong knowledge of Florida-native and Florida-friendly plant material.
- Proficiency in landscape design software and CAD tools is preferred.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and client service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
