Phlebotomy Technician I – Day shift and Rotating Holiday/Weekend

Under the supervision of the Manager of Preanalytical Laboratory Services and Phlebotomy Supervisors, the technician performs all duties of a Phlebotomist, including routine blood collection from all age groups, newborns to adults. The technician also demonstrates the knowledge and skills needed for Specimen Processing and Receiving areas of the Laboratory and provides patient care appropriate to the age of patients in the assigned area.

Collect blood samples from patients of all ages, including neonates and infants; process specimens and receive them in the laboratory; provide age‑appropriate care; document and report specimen data; maintain accurate patient identification; comply with laboratory safety and infection control procedures.

• Graduate of a vocational program in phlebotomy or three (3) months experience.

• Demonstrated knowledge of relevant computer skills needed for patient m and specimen processing functions.
• Demonstrated ability to interact successfully with patients, staff and other healthcare providers and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

HS EQ:
High School Diploma, GED or Certificate.
