Job Summary

Under the supervision of Manager, Preanalytical Laboratory Services and Phlebotomy Supervisors, performs all duties of Phlebotomist Tech II, including routine blood collection on all age groups to include neonates, infants and the elderly. In addition, demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to perform specimen processing and receiving in the Laboratory. Demonstrates competency in registration of patients and specimens. Assumes daily lead responsibilities.

Handles patient flow and instrumental in solving problems.

Laboratory

• Performs all duties of Phlebotomist Tech II, including routine blood collection on all age groups (neonates, infants, elderly).
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills to process and receive specimens.
• Registers patients and specimens correctly.
• Assumes daily lead responsibilities, handling patient flow and resolving operational challenges.

• At least 2 years of phlebotomy experience with all age groups.
• Phlebotomy certification from a national agency recognized by AHCA; certification must be current and active.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Previous experience in patient registration.
• 1 year of experience at SMHCS in a primary role.
• Demonstrated positive customer service and good judgment when interacting with patients, the public, and staff.
• Amiable personality and cooperative attitude.
• Excellent communication skills and familiarity with medical terminology.

High School Diploma, GED, or Certificate.

Valid Driver's License (FDL).
