Registered Nurse – Emergency Care Center

Provides professional nursing care to patients and families in an acute clinical care environment, guided by the SMHCS nursing professional practice model and in accordance with the ANA's Standards of Professional Practice.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or a diploma program. For new hires after 2012, a Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing (BSN) is required within a specified timeframe as outlined in the New Hire BSN Agreement policy (126.045).
• Basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.
• Certification upon completion of department orientation:
  Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), NIH Stroke PSA/ACE (during orientation), or CPI Crisis Intervention.
• Within one (1) year of completing department orientation, obtain Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC). All certifications must be maintained thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in a nursing specialty area.
• Minimum of one (1) year of emergency RN experience.
