Experienced in dementia or Alzheimer’s care and looking for a role where that experience truly matters?

McKenney Home Care is seeking Caregivers, HHAs, and CNAs who are confident supporting clients living with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and other memory-related conditions in a one-on-one private home setting.

McKenney Home Care is a family-owned private-duty home care agency serving Sarasota and Charlotte County. Through our Venice office, we work to match experienced caregivers with clients based on care needs, experience, availability, and location.

Where Your Dementia Care Experience Matters

Dementia care often requires more than completing daily tasks. It takes patience, consistency, reassurance, observation, and the ability to adjust your approach based on the person in front of you.

We are looking for caregivers comfortable with:
  • Dementia and Alzheimer’s care
  • Confusion, memory loss, and repetitive behaviors
  • Agitation, anxiety, or resistance to care
  • Redirection and reassurance techniques
  • Maintaining familiar routines and a calm environment
  • Personal care including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
  • Transfers, ambulation, and fall prevention
  • Recognizing and reporting changes in behavior or condition
  • Companionship and meaningful engagement
  • Following individualized care plans and family preferences
What’s Available

Private-duty schedules vary based on client needs and caregiver availability and may include:

  • Day shifts
  • Evening shifts
  • Weekend shifts
  • Overnight shifts
  • 12-hour shifts
  • Short or split shifts

Hours cannot be guaranteed. Caregiver placement is based on experience, availability, location, and individual client needs.

What You’ll Need to Complete Onboarding
  • Previous hands-on dementia or Alzheimer’s caregiving experience required
  • HHA certificate, Florida CNA license, or professional caregiving experience preferred but not required
  • Patience, dependability, and the ability to respond calmly to challenging behaviors
  • Strong communication and observation skills
  • Comfort working independently in a private home setting
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Current auto insurance with you listed as an allowed driver
  • Reliable transportation
  • Hands‑on CPR certification — online‑only CPR is not accepted
  • TB screening within the last 6 months or qualifying chest X‑ray within the last 5 years
  • Level 2 AHCA background screening:
  • Dependable attendance, professionalism, and flexibility
Don’t have everything yet?

You don’t need to have all healthcare credentials completed before interviewing. If you’re selected to move forward, we’ll explain what is still needed and guide you through the remaining onboarding requirements.

What You’ll Get at McKenney Home Care
  • One‑on‑one care:
Give one client your attention instead of dividing it across a facility
  • Meaningful matching:
Your dementia‑care experience is considered when matching you with client needs
  • Varied scheduling:
Opportunities may range from shorter visits to 12‑hour and overnight assignments
  • 24/7 support:
Access to office and nursing support when you need it
  • A local, family‑owned agency:
Serving families throughout Sarasota and Charlotte County
