Field Mechanic

Overview

The Field Mechanic position is the backbone of the Ajax Equipment Division. He or she is responsible for maintaining the fleet, performing repairs, preventative maintenance activities, and inspections on equipment.

The Field Mechanic directly reports to and is accountable to the Field Maintenance Manager.

• Education:
  
  Minimum of two years’ experience in field repairs of Roadway machinery.

• Maintain a clean, safe, work truck
• Make necessary repairs/services to equipment
• Follow a weekly repair schedule as directed
• Accurately record time and materials on work orders
• Adhere to the Ajax culture of teamwork, dedication, and safety
• Start and end on time
• Must have own tools
• Uphold a high level of customer service
• Safety and Environmental:
  Abide by all rules listed in the Ajax employee handbook
• Insure all Ajax quality standards are met
• Insure adherence to all federal, state, local and Ajax Safety and Environmental Rules and Regulations

Shop/Field Conditions – Work is exposed to outdoor conditions at times, noise and heat. Ability to work days, occasional weekends & on call nights as required.

The essential functions of this position include sitting, walking, standing, climbing, reaching, bending, trunk movements, lifting a minimum of 45 lbs., carrying, pushing/pulling, low level work, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing and talking.

Reporting to work on time, after lunch, and not leaving early unless authorized. Always providing proper notification and advance notice of absence. Not abusing or taking advantage of personal days off. Performing such other duties as may be required.
