This role is designed to bridge the gap between academic performance, emotional wellbeing, and classroom dynamics. The ideal candidate will work closely with students, teachers, and school leadership to help navigate the complex developmental and social-emotional challenges of adolescence within an international community.
Key Responsibilities
Student Support & Pastoral Guidance (1-on-1):
Provide active listening, emotional guidance, and goal-oriented support for students referred for behavioural, emotional, or academic motivation challenges.
Conduct initial assessments of student wellbeing and facilitate referrals external diagnostic or therapeutic support when specialized clinical care is required.
Support international students and families with transition, cultural adaptation, and social integration.
Classroom Workshops & Prevention Programs:
Emotional regulation, stress management, and exam anxiety.
Relationships, consent, and affective education.
Anti-bullying, cyberbullying, and digital citizenship.
Sleep hygiene and digital wellbeing.
Faculty & Inclusion Support (IEP/504 / Bes Support):
Collaborate with Head of Years, Homeroom Teachers, and the Learning Support Department.
Analyze and interpret psychological/educational evaluations (e.g., Learning Differences, Neurodivergence, ADHD) to provide actionable, classroom-based strategies for teachers.
Facilitate restorative conversations between students to resolve interpersonal conflicts.
Required Skills/Abilities
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
Language Proficiency:
C1/Fluent English (written and spoken) is required. Italian fluency is an advantage for communicating with local families and external services.
Degree in Psychology, Educational Sciences, or Social Pedagogy, combined with a certified qualification/master in Counseling .
Formal educational background in Psychology is strongly preferred (for reading clinical reports and decoding complex adolescent behaviour).
Note:
Membership in the professional clinical registry (Albo degli Psicologi) is not required.
Experience:
Proven track record working with adolescents (ages 11–18) in educational, international, or youth-oriented settings.
Administrative Status: Freelance / Self-employed status (Possession of a valid Partita IVA or willingness to register prior to the start date).
Skills:
Cultural sensitivity, empathy, discretion, strong conflict-resolution skills, and a proactive, team-oriented approach.
