Position: Staff/Senior/Lead Neuropsychologist

Overview

Under general direction, provides psychological services to groups and individuals and provides advice and consultation to staff members.

Positions and Pay

Staff Psychologist ($3,699.18 - $4,796.43 biweekly) - is the entry level classification in this job series. Incumbents have a doctoral degree, are approved by the State of California for licensure as a psychologist, but do not yet have a psychology license. They must perform their duties under the direction of a licensed Senior Psychologist and require supervision under the current rules and regulations of the California psychologist licensing body and Department of Health Care Services (DHCS).

The Staff Psychologist must be eligible for promotion to Senior Psychologist prior to their waiver expiring and as such must be able to obtain privileges through the Ventura County Medical Center (VCMC) Department of Psychology, Medical Staff Office.

Senior Psychologist ($3,972.65 - $5,178.86 biweekly) - is the licensed professional level classification in this job series. Incumbents independently perform psychological duties within the scope of practice as determined by their training, license, and VCMC medical staff privileges.

Lead Psychologist ($4,481.70 - $5,826.21 biweekly) - differs from the Staff and Senior Psychologists in that it is the lead level classification in this job series. Incumbents are responsible for leading, instructing, and providing clinical supervision over the assessments, diagnoses, and therapeutic treatments provided by Staff and Senior Psychologists.

  • Holidays - 12 paid days per year which includes a scheduled floating holiday.

DEPARTMENT/AGENCY: Health Care Agency - Behavioral Health

Staff/Senior/Lead Psychologist are represented by SEIU and are not eligible for overtime compensation.

The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill current and future Regular, Intermittent, and Extra Help positions. There are currently four Regular vacancies.

NOTE: If appointed at the lower level, incumbent may be promoted to the higher level without further exam upon meeting the minimum requirements, demonstrating satisfactory performance, and in accordance with the business needs of the department.

Responsibilities by role:

  • Staff Psychologist: Provides psychological services privileged by the Ventura County Medical Center Psychology Department to individuals and groups; includes clinical assessment, consultation, psychotherapy, testing, research, and neuropsychology; evaluates patient needs and develops treatment programs; serves as consultant to team members; trains and advises staff; administers tests; provides treatment guidance; participates in meetings; documents assessments and progress; provides community consultation; performs related duties.
  • Senior Psychologist: Reviews referrals, assigns testing, monitors workflow; consults with clinic administrators and managers; conducts audits of reports; approves testing materials; stays current with best practices and protocols; provides supervision and back-up support; participates in hiring and training; ensures supervision compliance; performs related duties.
  • Lead Psychologist: Conducts diagnostic interviews; provides psychological services, selects and interprets tests; prepares comprehensive reports; trains and advises staff; participates in program planning and development; researches best practices; provides clinical supervision and oversees testing programs; ensures policy and procedure compliance; monitors workflow and coordinates resources; may assist with QA/QM activities;…
