A growing Building Automation and HVAC Controls contractor is seeking a skilled BAS Controls Technician to support installation, commissioning, and system start-up throughout Ventura County and the surrounding coastal region. This position is ideal for technicians who enjoy project-based work, integration tasks, and hands-on field commissioning for commercial, educational, and industrial facilities.

Position Details- Title: BAS Controls Technician
- Location: Ventura, CA (regional travel to nearby project sites)
- Employment Type: Full-Time
- Hourly Rate: $44.00 – $60.00/hr (DOE)

The BAS Controls Technician will work on new construction and renovation projects
, performing installation, device terminations, equipment start-up, and system commissioning. You will work closely with project managers, electricians, HVAC teams, and commissioning agents to ensure that all controls components are installed correctly and function as intended.
- Install BAS/DDC components including controllers, sensors, actuators, VAV devices, and network hardware
- Terminate low-voltage control wiring and verify field connections
- Perform point-to-point checkout, functional testing, and equipment start-up
- Load and adjust control programs under guidance from senior programmers
- Create or modify system graphics, trends, and user-interface elements
- Support integration using BACnet, Modbus, or Lon Works protocols
- Document field conditions, changes, and commissioning results
- Communicate effectively with project teams, contractors, and end users
- Experience in BAS/DDC installation, commissioning, or HVAC controls work
- Strong understanding of mechanical equipment, HVAC fundamentals, and control sequences
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and equipment submittals
- Comfortable working on construction sites and in active mechanical areas
- Solid troubleshooting abilities for field wiring and device-level issues
- Valid California driver’s license with a clean MVR
- Exposure to platforms such as Tridium Niagara, Distech, Siemens, Alerton, or Johnson Controls
- Experience commissioning VAV systems, AHUs, heat pumps, and RTUs
- Background in retrofits or energy upgrade projects
- Familiarity with Title 24 requirements (not required, but beneficial)
