Vergennes Union Elementary School seeks a part‑time paraprofessional for Social Emotional Learning to support the social, emotional, and behavioral well‑being of elementary students (K‑5). This role focuses on helping students build regulation, communication, and problem‑solving skills within inclusive classroom environments. The para educator uses tools such as social stories, visual supports, and structured routines to help students engage successfully in learning and community life.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide consistent, proactive support to students to promote emotional regulation and social skill development
- Create and implement individualized social stories and visual supports tailored to specific student needs
- Support classroom routines and transitions, reinforcing predictable structures that promote safety and engagement
- Model and coach prosocial behaviors, communication strategies, and coping techniques
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and special educators to align approaches and maintain consistency across settings
