YMCA Camp Abnaki is seeking a seasonal Assistant Camp Director to play a key role in supporting camp operations across our Spring Rental, Summer Camp, and Fall Family Camp seasons. This position works closely with the Camp Director and Senior Director of Camping Services to ensure the smooth coordination of daily operations, staff support, logistics, and administrative systems that allow camp programs to thrive.

As a member of the Camp Leadership Team, the Assistant Camp Director helps guide staff, maintain safety and program standards, and support the many moving parts of a residential camp environment, while contributing to a positive and mission‑driven camp culture.

The approximate contract dates for this seasonal role are from April 27, 2026, until September 25, 2026. Housing and meals are included in compensation.

What You’ll Do
  • Support Camp Leadership:
    Partner with the Camp Director and Senior Director of Camping Services to oversee daily operations and seasonal transitions.
  • Develop & Support Staff:
    Assist with hiring support, training, scheduling, feedback, and supervision of seasonal staff and key operational roles.
  • Ensure Safety & Compliance:
    Maintain ACA standards, oversee documentation, and support emergency response procedures.
  • Coordinate Rentals & Registrations:
    Manage Ultra Camp data, registration records, paperwork, payments, and communications for rentals and family camp.
  • Boost Staff Morale:
    Help create a positive, supportive camp culture through recognition, communication, and leadership presence.
  • Be a Visible Leader:
    Participate in Evening Watch, Leader on Duty rotations, staff trainings, and changeover weekends.
  • Engage with Families & Partners:
    Assist with parent communication, rental group support, and community relationships as needed.
  • Handle the Details:
    Complete reports, evaluations, schedules, and end‑of‑season documentation accurately and on time.
Salary

$900 – $1,110 / week based on a 6‑day workweek.

Requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years of age with a High School diploma or equivalent. Associate or Bachelor’s degree in education, recreation, youth development, or related field preferred. Previous life or professional experience accepted.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in youth programs, camping, or recreational settings.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and submit to a motor vehicle record check.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and written.
  • Passion for working with youth and teens with an ability to build positive relationships with diverse age groups.
  • Leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage logistics, schedules, and records.
  • Familiarity with ACA standards and best practices preferred.
  • Adult and Pediatric CPR/First Aid/AED certification, or willingness to obtain.
  • Must live on site during the Summer season, with personal cabin provided.
