Day Camp Director, Camp Abnaki
Greater Burlington YMCA is seeking an energetic Day Camp Director to lead our day camp program for boys who have completed grades K‑4. You’ll mentor counselors, plan activities, and create a memorable summer all while living and working on the shores of Lake Champlain.
The contract is from June 11 through August 22, with possibilities for pre‑season and post‑season work.

- Oversee all day camp activities and ensure everything runs smoothly and safely.
- Support and mentor day camp staff.
- Organize games, waterfront time, archery, arts & crafts, and more to keep campers engaged.
- Manage attendance, schedules, camper reports, and parent communication.
- Handle camper behavior with patience, fairness, and creativity.
- Maintain the Day Camp Shed and keep supplies organized.
- Run the camp store for Day Camp and assist kids with purchases.
- Communicate with parents so they know their campers are having an awesome time.
- Participate in evening watch, leadership training, and provide supervision after day camp hours.
$725 – $885 per week based on a 6‑day workweek.
Requirements- At least 20 years old with at least one year of post‑secondary education or work experience beyond high school.
- Experience working with kids and a strong understanding of child development.
- Great leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- A patient, fun‑loving, and energetic personality.
- Strong organizational skills for schedules, attendance, and camper reports.
- Ability to lead small‑group activities and skill‑based programs.
- Ready to walk, stand, and move around camp (uneven terrain possible).
- Strong visual and auditory awareness to ensure camper safety.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stay active throughout the day.
- Quick decision‑making and responsiveness to emergency situations.
