Building a sustainable tomorrowWith a reputation built over 150 years, BAM offers a clear path. You will grow step by step through a five‑year programme that blends practical learning, professional recognition and a competitive benefits package.
Your RoleApprentices work across a range of sectors and undertake a variety of projects. From day one you will be supported by experienced professionals as you develop your career as a BAM apprentice.
Project Support- Collaborate with experienced engineers on the design, planning and execution of civil engineering projects
- Communicate effectively at all levels
- Assist with planning and coordination of site activities
- Maintain good working relationships with client, designer, supply chain and others
- Gain hands‑on experience with engineering tools and processes
- Learn how to use specialist setting‑out equipment
- Learn how to overcome challenges on live projects
- Drive quality through effective planning and right‑first‑time delivery
- Be part of real construction projects and work closely with our skilled workforce, applying your learning and knowledge in real world scenarios
- Maintain diaries of site activity
- Help to ensure that work is carried out safely in line with the company Health and Safety
- Maintain high personal standards in health and safety
- Maintain high standards in environmental awareness and behaviour
- Monitor and record delivery against the agreed programme and construction methods
- Ensure that works are accurately and clearly set out before work commences
- GCSE grade 5 (B) or above in Maths
- GCSE grade 4 (C) or above in English Language
- 3 additional GCSEs grade 4 and above
- 2 x STEM A‑Levels
- Or Relevant Level 3 Qualifications (e.g. Civil Engineering, Construction in the Built Environment)
- T Level Design, Planning & Surveying for Construction

Due to the project nature of our business, candidates must be willing to travel and stay away from home when necessary. As some of our projects are in remote areas, we also require all applicants to hold a full UK driving licence.
