Cardiac Sonographer

Overview

The Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for performing high-quality echocardiograms under the guidance of clinical providers and in alignment with departmental standards. This role requires maintaining compliance with established protocols while ensuring optimal patient care and technical excellence.

• Perform echocardiograms on patients as ordered, prioritizing trauma and critically ill cases.
• Select appropriate ultrasound techniques to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
• Position and instruct patients to ensure proper image acquisition and patient comfort.
• Maintain compliance with standards set by the American Society of Echocardiography, as well as State and Federal agencies.
• Manage the daily technical operations of the echocardiography lab, including maintaining equipment and supplies.
• Back up studies and create copies on disc for further review as required.
• Participate in departmental meetings and professional education programs to maintain and enhance technical proficiency.
• Adhere to Porter Medical Centers Compliance Program and all hospital and departmental policies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Education/Certification: Certification in Cardiac Sonography (RDCS or RCS) or eligibility to obtain certification.
• Experience: Previous experience in a hospital or cardiology clinic preferred.
• Skills: Strong technical abilities, attention to detail, and excellent patient interaction skills.
