Recovery Support Specialist
Job Description:
The role of the Recovery Support Specialist is to support program participants at the Jenna's Promise Recovery Residences on their paths to and in recovery. The Recovery Support Specialist will act as a role model, mentor, and motivator in order to promote long-term recovery for the participants within Jenna’s Promise Recovery Residence Program and support residents in their day-to-day lives. This is a full-time opportunity that might require weekend hours and evening hours with shifts ending at 9 PM.
Shifts/hours will be determined in collaboration with the other recovery residence staff.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrate an understanding of and be respectful of individuals unique paths to and in recovery.
- Must have or will be required to achieve Recovery Coach Certification and attend other trainings and continuing education upon employment
- Must have a willingness to engage in personal and professional development opportunities
- Must have a valid driver's license and be able to provide transportation for others
- Candidates with some peer-professional or professional experience in the recovery and/or mental health fields preferred
Duties and Functions:
- Support participants in accessing their identified recovery pathway.
- Conduct random urine analysis/ breathalyzing and document results.
- Conduct random Room Searches and Belongings Search
- Assist in new resident intake process.
- Implement Residential Check in Check out process to with residents leaving on passes.
- Complete accurate Shift Reports to document and communicate with Team Members.
- Maintain communication with case managers and program director regarding resident activities and wellbeing.
- Engage in weekly individual supervision with Program Director.
- Implement planned social activities within the community/ home.
- Complete weekly Room Maintenance checks in accordance with House expectations.
- Monitor participant’s engagement in recovery services and ability to comply with household/ phased expectations. Complete Written Accountability Reports as needed.
- Assist participants in developing their plan for advancing recovery and identifying personal interests/ goals related to their recovery journey.
- Maintain positive relationships with community partners/ agencies in collaboration with other Jenna’s Promise Employees.
- Attend necessary trainings as requested by Program Director or other management.
- Provide transportation for program participants as needed.
Medication management, counts, etc. as needed. - Have a passion for helping others
- Comfortable with resolving conflict and maintaining health and professional boundaries.
- Maintain strong boundaries and professional ethics with residents and other staff
