SUMMARY

HR specialists are responsible for managing various human resources functions. They help with setting up company policies, maintaining employee records, preparing compensation packages, training staff and ensuring a healthy, secure work environment. Responsible for identifying areas of improvement to increase organizational productivity, engagement and value. Interface with organizational leaders to identify employment needs. Establish and grow organizational culture to increase employee satisfaction.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as a liaison between employees, supervisors and leadership on various leave matters
  • Subject‑matter expert for leaves of absence, workers compensation claims and military leaves. Facilitates and coordinates all aspects of return to work for associated leaves.
  • Interprets and coordinates leave programs and policies in accordance with the applicable federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, USERRA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, Short‑Term Disability, etc.) and workers compensation laws.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for each injured employee for the duration of their workers compensation claim.
  • Acts as a liaison between injured employee and workers compensation adjuster and follows up with injured employee as needed to ensure claim is progressing properly.
  • Works closely with FMLA coordinator to ensure that all relevant completed medical documentation is submitted for timely review. Maintains employee leave information in databases and performs other tasks to ensure accuracy of files related to employee leaves of absence.
  • Produces and manages reporting metrics and analytics for all leave cases and workers compensation cases; and presents reports as requested.
  • Facilitate periodic reviews and revisions to CMPD leave policies/procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations related to all Leaves of Absence and Workers Compensation claims.
  • Prepare, analyze and manage reports, metrics and analysis for all FMLA/LOA cases on a monthly/quarterly basis and subsequently communicate trends to the Administrative Officer IV.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and accurate processing of WC claims.
  • Assist with timely coordination of appropriate medical treatment in collaboration with carrier claim handlers and medical case managers as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent with one (1) year of related experience
  • OR Associate’s Degree

Skills and Abilities
  • Understanding of HR policies, employment law and best practices related to employee leave administration.
  • Demonstrated experience managing end‑to‑end leave cases including eligibility determinations, documentation review, compliance tracking and employee/manager communication.
  • Ability to handle complex ADA interactive processes, coordinate medical leave accommodations and address employee concerns or leave‑related grievances with professionalism and accuracy.
