Essential Functions / Duties
To assure quality machining of metal parts/assemblies in a timely and efficient manner to promote and support the success of SMC.
Role / Department / Location Specific Requirements
Reports to the department lead.
Position is based at Plant 1 in Birmingham, Alabama.
Job Requirements:
Must be able to use proper measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and be able to read blueprints.
Education Requirements or Equivalent Experience:
Additional Information: Candidates will be under a 45-90 days evaluation.

Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, extreme heat or cold, wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the apprenticeship program, with or without a reasonable accommodation, and without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of the individual or others. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear.
The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl, and smell. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
