Seeking Volunteers to Help Those Affected By Local Disasters! - Woodstock Area

The American Red Cross, through its strong network of volunteers, donors and partners, is always there in times of need. We aspire to turn compassion into action so that all people affected by disaster receive care, shelter and hope.

Your local American Red Cross office is seeking volunteers to provide 24‑hour emergency response to local disasters, especially house fires, ensuring those affected have access to basic necessities such as food, shelter and clothing.

As a Disaster Action Team member you could do the following:

  • Take required trainings to support families/individuals displaced by local emergencies, including fires and other incidents.
  • Sign up for on‑call shifts to respond when needed.
  • Show compassion, respect and maintain client confidentiality.
  • Help connect clients with Red Cross and other resources to meet basic needs (shelter, food, clothing, medication) and refer to Red Cross mental health, spiritual care and health services as needed.
  • Consider additional training to assist with larger‑scale national disasters in a variety of leadership roles.

The ideal volunteer is passionate about the Red Cross mission, has basic computer skills, effective communication skills and flexibility. Training is required and volunteers may be asked to assist with large‑scale national disasters.
