Responsibilities

As a Laborer/Groundman
, you are responsible for providing general labor for aerial and underground construction projects. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge.

  • Be responsible for various manual tasks such as digging trenches, unloading building materials, and preparing job sites with hand tools like shovels, rakes, and picks.
  • Perform fiber blowing operations as directed, assisting in the installation of fiber optic cable in conduits using fiber‑blowing equipment.
  • Conduct general labor on construction sites.
  • Conduct placement of conduit as directed by Foreman or Supervisor.
  • Be involved in map reading and directions.
  • Support with trench digging and closing.
  • Support with the movement of materials and vehicles as directed by Foreman or Supervisor.
  • Conduct maintenance services as directed by Foreman to include: cleanup, wash vehicles, landscaping.
  • Perform all duties according to prescribed safety procedures and use appropriate safety equipment.
  • Be involved with vehicle and equipment operations from trucks to other equipment as directed and certified.
  • Tow various trailers with flatbed trucks.
  • Conduct aerial/underground work as needed and directed and as trained.
  • Troubleshoot RF and Fiber line and/or equipment issues.
  • Construct and repair underground RF and Fiber service.
  • Learn how to read and construct from a design schematic of map.
  • Learn all inventory and equipment required for these projects.
  • As applicable, learn and be certified on the use of equipment:
    Line truck, Bucket truck, Cable Reel equipment, Saws and drills.
  • Climb poles with climbing equipment safely.
  • Move and relocate RF and Fiber service.
  • Be familiar with NESC (National Electrical Safety Commission) safety guidelines.
Qualifications
  • Safety is a part of your day-to-day.
  • You have a track record of completing work with a high level of quality.
  • You have a knack for figuring out hard problems and enjoy a hands‑on approach to your work.
  • You are looking for long‑term projects.
  • You enjoy getting your hands dirty with your team.
  • You have a valid Driver’s License.
  • You have a clean driving record.
  • You can lift and carry up to 70 lbs.
  • Have the ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for the project build process.
  • Ability to read and understand design schematics and maps.
  • Climbing certification or related experience.
  • Practical working experience in overhead construction for both RF and Fiber.
  • Knowledge of Overhead Bill of Materials.
  • City, County, and State clearance code knowledge and related.
  • Extensive knowledge of Network architecture and design for both RF and Fiber networks.
  • Flagger Certified for field work as needed.
  • Excellent verbal, written, phone, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment.

Compensation: $20 - $25/hr
