Installation Technician, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic

Base Pay Range
$33.00/hr - $63.00/hr
Position SummaryThis role requires a skilled low voltage technician to configure, maintain, and upgrade security, fire alarm, CCTV, audio/video, and network systems. The technician will run, terminate, and label cables, perform maintenance checks, and resolve system issues to ensure reliability. The technician will provide technical support, training, and professional customer service while adhering to safety guidelines and regulatory standards. The technician will maintain accurate records, generate performance reports, evaluate existing systems for upgrades, and collaborate with project teams.
Responsibilities- Sets up and configures various low voltage systems (e.g., security systems, fire alarms, CCTV, audio/video systems, network cabling).
- Runs, terminates, and labels cables according to project requirements and industry standards.
- Performs regular maintenance checks to ensure system functionality and reliability.
- Identifies and resolves issues in low voltage systems promptly to minimize downtimes.
- Fixes any faults or damages in systems, ensuring they are restored to optimal working condition.
- Provides technical support and training to end users on operating and maintaining low voltage systems.
- Addresses customer inquiries and concerns professionally and efficiently.
- Ensures all installations and repairs adhere to local, state, and federal regulations.
- Follows all safety guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Maintains accurate and detailed records of installations, maintenance, and repairs.
- Generates reports on system performance, issues resolved, and maintenance activities.
- Evaluates existing systems to determine if upgrades or enhancements are needed.
- Performs system upgrades to improve performance or comply with new standards.
- Works closely with other technicians, engineers, and project managers to ensure successful project completion.
- Communicates effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide appropriate solutions.
- Stays abreast of the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Must hold state and jurisdiction required certification and license for the state/jurisdiction of work.

- Licensing requirements vary by state.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
- Prior work experience in role requiring knowledge of local electrical codes and standards.
- BICSI Installer Certification, or CompTIA certifications for networking (e.g., Network+).
- Manufacturer-specific certifications (e.g., Honeywell, Axis, or Bosch systems).
- NICET 1 & 2 Fire Alarm certification.
- OSHA 10 or 30 hour certification/training.
- Technical training or certification in low voltage systems.
