DescriptionResponsibilities include:
- Supervising recreational use of the indoor climbing wall facility during open hours; notably monitoring knot tying, belaying and lowering skills of users and appropriate use of the facility
- Checking in climbers, maintaining accurate records and files, and documenting information appropriately (including incidents, problems with the wall or equipment, etc.)
- Adherence to all climbing wall policies and enforcing policies to climbing wall users
- Administering a skill assessment for new wall users
- Maintaining climbing wall equipment and inspecting for wear, and reporting any problems to supervisor
- Visually inspecting the climbing wall and reporting any concerns or problems
- Organizing and cleaning the climbing wall area
- Some general maintenance of climbing area
- Attendance at all staff training sessions and/ or meetings
- Other duties as assigned
Estimated workload: 6+ hours/ week
Qualifications:
- Rock climbing experience required
- Ability to perform and demonstrate the proper techniques for climbing, tying appropriate knots, use of specialized equipment, belaying and lowering, and employ additional safety systems
- Ability to monitor climbing wall users to ensure proper techniques for the above mentioned skills
- First Aid & CPR certification required
- AMGA CWI certification recommended
- Highly desired: completion of the OEL 1121 Rock Climbing course
- Customer service oriented
