Introduction
Located in Willimantic, CT, Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU) is one of the State of Connecticut institutions of higher learning and the state’s designated public liberal arts university. We provide high‑quality undergraduate and select graduate programs to a diverse student body. We are currently accepting applications for multiple Connecticut POST Certified Police Officer positions to work at the campus, located in Windham County.

- Full‑time, 40 hours per week
- Must be available to work all shifts
- Candidates must have current State of Connecticut POST certification
- Candidates must be certified for over two years to be considered
- Respond to emergencies and requests for assistance
- Provide crowd control at events and activities
- Monitor designated areas to ensure physical security and authorized access to prevent theft, trespass, vandalism, or violations of state statutes or regulations
- Provide directions and routine information to the public
- Initiate and conduct criminal and other investigations of violations, suspicious activities or reports of incidents occurring within jurisdiction
- Direct traffic and enforce motor‑vehicle and parking regulations
- Conduct on‑site investigations, question witnesses, arrest individuals at scenes, and issue summonses
- Record information
- Serve as dispatcher when necessary
- Participate in evacuation activities in the event of fire, bomb threats or other potential disasters
- Operate firefighting apparatus if needed
- Conduct cruiser, foot, or bicycle patrols as weather permits
- Gather background information and provide threat assessments regarding high‑risk locations
- Assist in search for escaped patients or inmates and in major criminal investigations with State Police
- Maintain building security and perform patrol duties during heightened alert level under Homeland Security procedures
- Process arrested individuals, including charging, fingerprinting, photographing, NCIC checks, removing and inventorying personal belongings, and transporting to lock‑up
- Conduct safety training, certification, or recertification courses and provide public presentations on crime prevention and safety
- Perform minor equipment repairs as needed
- Serve as dispatcher when required
Applications will be considered based on minimum qualifications and preferred qualifications. Applicants must meet the minimum experience and training requirements by the close date and will be considered in accordance with contractual language, reemployment, SEBAC, transfer, promotion, and merit employment rules.
Minimum Qualifications- Certification as a law‑enforcement officer in the State of Connecticut pursuant to regulations promulgated by the Connecticut Police Officer Standards and Training Council
- Successful completion of the prescribed training and probationary requirements set forth in the class of Protective Services Trainee (if applicable)
- Authorization to work lawfully in the United States by the date of appointment
- Possession and maintenance of a valid motor‑vehicle operator’s license
- Eligibility and qualification to bear arms
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and proofreading experience
- Must maintain law‑enforcement certification in the State of Connecticut in accordance with Section 7‑294‑a‑e of the Connecticut General Statutes and the regulations of the Connecticut Police Officer Standards and Training Council
- Must possess and maintain authority from the Commissioner of Emergency Services and Public Protection to arrest and present before a competent authority any person for any offense committed within the precinct
- Must possess and maintain valid CPR and Basic First Aid certifications; may be required to obtain and retain EMT certification and a Standard First‑Aid certificate
- May be required to travel and to accept assignments or transfers to any region of the state consistent with departmental policies

- Must establish residence within Connecticut after completion of the Connecticut Police Training Academy Program
