This position is responsible for planning, organizing and directing strategic major giving efforts, including annual major giving, planned giving, and special project fundraising programs. You will manage a personal portfolio of top donors and prospects, define donor cultivation and solicitation strategies, and engage internal and external stakeholders in cultivating donor relationships.
Key Responsibilities- Provides strategic direction and oversees the execution of the following revenue programs:
Annual Major Giving and Special Campaigns, Directed, Capital and Endowment, Planned Giving, and Grants. - Develops and successfully executes all major giving plans to reach prospective major donors to help meet institutional funding objectives.
- Maintains a personal portfolio of prospects and donors and participates in all aspects of the gift cycle.
- Manages the planning of major gifts cultivation and recognition events; develops a program for recognition, involvement, and stewardship of major, planned and special gift donors.
- Enlists the involvement of Agency staff, Board of Directors, and others as necessary to successfully implement the major giving plans; designs and provides training for staff and volunteers as necessary.
- Chairs the Development Committee.
- Develops and deploys the annual major gift program including solicitation, stewardship, and research of the Agency's gift donors and prospects.
- Identifies opportunities for special campaigns to help ensure that the Agency is able to carry out its strategic plans and vision, such as endowment campaigns, capital campaigns and special projects.
- Establishes budget goals for major, planned and capital giving in consultation with Senior Leadership and develops strategies to meet them.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5–7 years of relevant experience in community relations, planned giving, major donor solicitation, and event planning in a nonprofit, education, or public service environment.
- Demonstrated success in managing a donor portfolio with a track record of increasing revenue through effective cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
- Experience supporting and managing senior leaders, volunteer leaders/board members, and high‑level volunteers.
- Valid state driver's license required; must pass pre‑employment driver record, criminal, adult, and child abuse background checks/reviews.
