Job Title: Rural Carrier Associate (RCA) – United States Postal Service, Vermont

Location: South Barre, VT (or VT Offices)

Salary: $20.38 per hour, paid bi‑weekly.

• Sort mail in delivery sequence for the assigned route.
• Receive and sign for accountable mail.
• Load mail in vehicle.
• Deliver mail to customers along a prescribed route on a regular schedule by vehicle; collect monies and receipts for accountable mail; pick up mail from customers’ roadside boxes.
• Sell stamps, stamped paper and money orders; accept C.O.D., registered, certified, and insured mail and parcel post; furnish routine information concerning postal matters and provide requested forms to customers.
• Return collected, undeliverable mail, and submit monies and receipts to post office.
• Prepare mail for forwarding and maintain records of change‑of‑address information.
• Prepare a daily trip report and maintain a list of the customers on the route.
• Conduct special surveys when required.
• Maintain an inventory of stamps and stamped paper as needed to provide service to customers on the route.
• Provide mail security at all times.

• RCAs must be available to work on an as‑needed basis, typically on Saturdays and as required to cover absences.
• DRIVING
  
  REQUIRED:
  
  Must have a valid state driver’s license, a safe driving record, and at least two years of unsupervised experience driving passenger cars or larger. Driving must have taken place in the U.S. or its possessions, territories, or in U.S. military installations worldwide.
• A personal vehicle suitable for use may be required for this position.
• Must meet medical suitability, general eligibility, and background‑check requirements.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs; perform outdoor work in all weather; load/unload trays and containers of mail and parcels.

• Rural Carrier Associates are non‑career employees who provide customers along a rural route a variety of services including delivering and collecting mail and selling stamps, supplies, and money orders.
• Desirable candidates should have a suitable vehicle and live within easy commuting distance of the facility location.
