DescriptionThis position is responsible for providing direct care by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients in the Operating Room.
- Prepares patient care area adequately and ensures availability of necessary equipment and supplies.
- Reviews and carries out physician orders timely and according to policy.
- Exhibits proper technique for insertion, maintenance, and removal of IV catheters and saline locks.
- Checks dressings and/or operative site and reports abnormalities to the surgeon.
- Prepares and administers medications in accordance with current practice.
- Demonstrates thorough understanding of medications utilized intra and postoperatively and recognizes the need for use of reversal drugs, when necessary.
- Assures that the patient meets all discharge criteria.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Communicates, collaborates, and coordinates with team members to provide quality patient care and to ensure positive patient outcomes pre‑operatively, intra‑operatively, and post‑operatively.
- Ensures Infection Control standards are maintained at all times.
- Attends all meetings and huddles.
- Addresses staff, physician, patient, and family concerns immediately and makes director aware.

- Explains the reasons for any delays and keeps the customer apprised of the situation
- Trains patients on the operation of their bed, television, controls, and telephone
- Answers patient call lights promptly with care, courtesy, and respect
- Conducts yourself professionally
- Responds in a timely, accurate manner to assignments and requests
- Maintains fiscal responsibility by utilizing resources wisely, taking care of equipment, and preventing lost charges
- Solves problems, meets needs, and determines what can you do to make a positive difference
- Adapts to changes in a positive, professional manner
- Attends staff meetings and completes all mandatory training on time
- Does not incur unapproved overtime, arrives on time and leaves on time, and has few unscheduled absences

- Must be a licensed RN in the State of Utah
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required; NRP certification preferred
- At least 2 years of nursing and 1 year of circulating experience preferred
