Shop Service Technician

Wheeler Machinery is seeking to hire a qualified Shop Service Technician at their Veral, UT location to safely perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on Caterpillar and non‑Caterpillar equipment. The role focuses on minimizing customer equipment downtime and gaining experience with Caterpillar systems.

• Utilize and comply with company and customer site safety programs, processes and procedures.
• Adhere to company and site lock‑out‑tag‑out requirements.
• Communicate with supervisor and Wheeler Machinery personnel daily.
• Diagnose electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
• Accurately identify and order replacement parts and components.
• Produce quality repairs while adhering to schedules and deadlines.
• Meet flat‑rate expectations.
• Deliver accurate and timely service reports, core returns and warranty documents.
• Maintain a professional appearance following company policy.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Advanced equipment and diesel repair experience.
• Experience safely diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing Caterpillar mining equipment.
• Proficiency with Caterpillar service software programs (e.g., Cat Electronic Technician, SIS Web, DBS, SIMSI).
• Must have necessary hand, pneumatic, and electrical diagnostic tools (up to ¾” drive).
• Ability and willingness to work closely with customers and a team.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and on‑call schedules as needed.
• Attention to detail and quality.
• Maintain a clean work area and contamination control expectations.
• Self‑motivated and capable of working safely with limited supervision.
• Effective communication skills.

• 3–5 years of relevant experience.
