Global Process Safety Manager – Your future role?
As the Global Process Safety Manager, you will act as a Subject Matter Expert responsible for developing and implementing policies, processes, and systems specific to process safety management in the production and laboratories of our flavors and fragrances business, including technologies such as spray drying, powder blending, extraction, compounding and chemical reactions. Your role will ensure the systematic application of the Process Safety Management System, ensuring the implementation of PSM foundational elements such as Commitment to Process Safety, Understanding Hazards and Risks, Managing Risks, and Learning from Experience, while promoting a robust Process Safety culture across the organization.
You will also support and guide site Process Safety Experts, participate in cross‑functional projects, collaborate with various departments, and manage external PSM vendor experts.
You will report directly to the Global Process Safety Director and will be based in Vernier, Switzerland.
Your Main Responsibilities Will Be- Lead the PSM system for the F&F business and technologies, ensuring compliance with corporate and legal safety standards, managing PSM data, KPIs and dashboards, and communicating PSM performance.
- Lead process risk identification and assessment initiatives in collaboration with Operations and Laboratories across the region and sites, carrying out PSM assessments, plant inspections, and audits.
- Support the development, prioritization and execution of risk assessment actions to address identified process safety risks.
- Develop and deliver Process Safety Training and awareness programs and support competency development for EHS, engineers, operations personnel and site leadership; facilitate communities of practice and technical knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with operations to provide guidance and expertise on process safety across the design of the plant, integrity of equipment, and operation of the facility for F&F technologies.
- Implement and enhance risk‑analysis methodologies, process safety guidance and technical guidelines, and foster a culture of PSM.
- Ensure global PSM risk portfolio governance and risk‑portfolio calibration related to process safety.
- Contribute to the enhancement of process safety knowledge and culture on‑site and beyond, through the implementation of Process Safety Management Training and Education.
- Actively participate in cross‑functional projects for the site.
- Manage external process safety consultants.
- MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or Chemistry/Organic Chemistry with a minimum of eight years of experience in chemical process safety.
- Proven experience leading PSM in a multicultural and matrix environment within a chemical and compounding production plant, laboratories and R&D plant.
- Experience in the design, integrity, and operation of operating sites with control hazards of chemical and compounding processes.
- Solid knowledge of ATEX and Safety Instrumented Systems.
- Certificate in Process Safety Management such as CCPS or NEBOSH PSM is an advantage.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in the local language and English; strong presentation skills for training delivery.
