Bioprocess Specialist (m/f/d)

As a Bioprocess Specialist (m/f/d), you will be part of the Fragrance Ingredients Industrialisation Department in Vernier, Switzerland. You will help develop and scale biotechnological processes that create the fragrance ingredients of tomorrow.

Working at the interface of science, engineering, and manufacturing, you will contribute directly to the successful industrialization of fermentation and biocatalysis technologies.

Reporting to the Manager of the Biotechnology Laboratory, you will join a collaborative environment where innovation, learning, and excellence are part of everyday life.

Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory studies supporting the development and industrialization of bioprocesses, including fermentation (USP and DSP), biocatalysis and downstream processing
  • Create, analyse, and document experimental data to guide development decisions in collaboration with the laboratory manager
  • Be the biotechnology expert within the team by sharing knowledge, training colleagues, and identifying latest technologies that can create value
  • Identify and solve potential technical challenges by partnering with scientists, engineers, manufacturing teams, and analytical experts to anticipate scale‑up requirements
  • Support pilot‑scale trials and production implementation by performing necessary analysis along the development chain, to ensure smooth transfer of laboratory processes toward industrial application
  • Ensure daily laboratory readiness by managing inventory of supplies, overseeing equipment maintenance and maintaining a safe efficient and compliant working environment.
  • Contribute to the definition and execution of technical investment projects related to bioprocess laboratory activities, including technical specifications, laboratory capability assessments and equipment selection
  • Collaborate with Process Analytical Technologies and Engineering experts to strengthen process understanding, optimization and scale‑up readiness.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of laboratory capabilities, technologies and workflows in collaboration with the lab manager
Qualifications

University/HES/Technical University degree in Biochemistry, Life Science Technology, Bioengineering or a similar field

OR

  • Laboratory technician (CFC in chemistry, biology or a similar field) with a solid experience (5‑10 years) in industrialization of bioprocesses including 2 to 5 years of experience in an industrial environment
  • Excellent knowledge and practical experience in fermentation
  • Knowledge in industrial fermentation technologies including DSP is beneficial
  • Good command in data analysis and interpretation
  • Professionalism, dynamism, team spirit and cooperation
  • Organization and thoughtfulness
  • Fluent in French or willingness to learn it, and good command of English (both written and oral)
