. Headquartered in Vernon, British Columbia, Arrowleaf is a rapidly growing real estate investment and development company with an established portfolio of multi-family, industrial, retail and office assets across Canada. With a substantial development pipeline, as well as several partnerships and projects already underway, this is an exciting opportunity to join a company with massive upward trajectory.
Reporting to the Vice-President of Finance, and working closely with the Accounting Manager, the Accountant will work alongside internal and external accounting and tax professionals to maintain books and filings related to value-add and ground-up development projects, income producing properties, and the overall organization.
PrimaryJob Responsibilities
- Full cycle accounting for multiple companies including management of the accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.
- Review and reconciliation of general ledger accounts, including preparation of adjusting journal entries.
- Assist with, or complete, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages.
- Complete bank deposits and prepare cheque runs and intercompany account transfers.
- Complete bank reconciliations.
- Assist with bank account analysis to inform cash management decisions.
- Prepare staff expense reports.
- Maintain accurate financial records in compliance with accounting standards.
- Assist with project and corporate-level financial reporting and budgeting.
- Submit periodic tax filings, including GST.
- Prepare CAM reconciliations for tenants and review CAM reconciliations prepared by property managers.
- Review monthly financial information provided by property managers, investigate discrepancies, and prepare journal entries with supporting documentation.
- Work with internal project teams and external property managers to track actual expenses relative to budgets.
- Assist with annual audit process.
- Ensure internal controls are adhered to.
- Assist with the implementation of Yardi Voyager from Yardi Breeze accounting software to optimize usability across the organization.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects and special assignments as needed.
- 2+ years of experience in a similar role, ideally related to real estate development and/or investment.
- Proficiency in accounting software (preferably Yardi) and Microsoft 365, especially MS Excel.
- Outstanding attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and procedures.
- Highly organized with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Working towards CPA designation is an asset.
- High level of integrity.
- Low ego.
- Able to maintain confidentiality in business and social settings.
