Location: Lake Country
Be a part of the District of Lake Country as a permanent Building Official I, II, or III, connecting construction compliance with community well-being. Inspect sites and oversee adherence to regulations.
This exciting role involves working under the Manager of Building and Bylaw Services while ensuring compliance with B.C. Building and Plumbing Codes. You will engage in field inspections, manage permit applications, and resolve public inquiries with respect and professionalism. Your efforts will contribute significantly to safe and qualified development practices.
Key Responsibilities:
• Execute building inspections as per BC Building Act standards
• Detect deficiencies affecting safety and structural integrity
• Handle building permit files from application to final inspection
• Make compliance decisions on code and regulatory issues
• Coordinate successfully with other departments to meet requirements
Requirements:
• Diploma in engineering or building technology and 3 years' relevant experience
• Level I certification from the Building Officials Association of BC
• Level I plumbing qualification for applicable roles
• Class 5 BC Driver’s License needed
• Strong abilities in public relations and effective communication
Support the District’s vision for safe and responsible construction as a Building Official.
