This role, working under the Director of Indigenous Programs, focuses on providing dedicated help to Indigenous students, fostering their cultural identity and personal growth. You will engage with students in various subjects and participate in educational activities that elevate their cultural awareness.
Your role is crucial in building positive relationships and supporting their academic journeys.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support Indigenous students in small groups and individually
• Assist teachers with specialized materials for learning challenges
• Coach students in reading, math, and other subjects
• Help organize cultural activities and field trips
• Encourage self-esteem and positive attitudes towards school
Requirements:
• Education Assistant Certificate or equivalent training
• Experience working with Indigenous youth
• Familiarity with local Indigenous community values
• Knowledge of current computer programs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
