Itinerant English Language Learning Specialist

Enhance English language experiences for students as a District Itinerant English Language Learning Teacher. This part-time role, effective September 2026, focuses on assessment and classroom support.

This temporary position supports English language learners by assessing needs and designing effective programs. You will teach core language content to ensure students integrate smoothly into Canadian culture and educational opportunities. Collaboration with classroom teachers to provide effective instructional strategies is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide assessments for appropriate ELL placement and program design

• Teach ELL students essential language content for acquisition

• Support classroom teachers with ELL instructional strategies

• Offer insights on cultural differences for student inclusion

• Assist in reporting ELL student achievement effectively

Requirements:

• Professional certification with the BC Teacher Regulation Branch

• Minimum of two years successful classroom teaching experience

• Diploma in Applied Linguistics or ESL Teaching Certificate

• Relevant practical experience with ELL students is an asset

• Commitment to complete qualifications if partially qualified
