Temporary Environmental Planning Assistant

Embark on a temporary journey as an Environmental Planning Assistant for the City of Vernon. This full-time role focuses on environmental planning, regulations, and community outreach.
As a key team member under the General Manager of Planning, you'll perform technical planning duties that include reviewing environmental permit applications, interpreting regulations, and assisting in public educational initiatives.
Your role will also involve managing land use applications and preparing reports for Council, all while ensuring compliance with zoning bylaws and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Interpret regulations and policies for development applications
• Review and assess plans for technical accuracy
• Prepare and present reports to Council
• Coordinate land use applications within assigned areas
• Organize sustainability-themed public events
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or Environmental Studies
• Minimum two years of related experience
• Proficient in GIS, database, and graphics software
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License
• Effective communication of technical information
