Position: FireSmart Wildfire Specialist - City
The City of Vernon is looking for a passionate Fire Smart Wildfire Mitigation Specialist to enhance community resilience against wildfires. This role combines risk assessment and hands-on public education to mitigate wildfire hazards.

Reporting to the Fire Smart Coordinator, you'll focus on assessing wildfire risks and implementing community-specific programming. Engage residents through educational events while providing tailored advice for hazard reduction on their properties. Your expertise will play a vital role in promoting the Fire Smart initiative throughout the community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Schedule and execute assessments for wildfire mitigation

• Facilitate public education sessions on Fire Smart principles

• Deliver hazard reduction recommendations to homeowners

• Implement Fire Smart initiatives based on community needs

• Guide residents in executing Fire Smart activities

Requirements:

• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (LFR)

• Designation as a Wildfire Mitigation Specialist

• Canada Criminal Record Check pass

• Familiarity with emergency management and risk assessment

• Proficient in communication and education technologies
