Wildfire Risk Mitigation Specialist

Join the City of Vernon as a Wildfire Mitigation Specialist focused on reducing wildfire risks through community education and assessments. Help residents implement effective Fire Smart strategies in their properties.

This role supports the Fire Smart program, working alongside the Fire Smart Coordinator. You will engage with the community and partners to deliver wildfire assessments, public education, and program initiatives aimed at wildfire risk reduction. Your expertise will guide homeowners in making their properties safer against wildfires.

Key Responsibilities:

• Complete assessments for Fire Smart programs with the coordinator

• Facilitate public education events on wildfire preparedness

• Provide tailored Fire Smart recommendations to homeowners

• Implement community-specific Fire Smart programming

• Offer hands-on support for Fire Smart activities in local neighborhoods

Requirements:

• Current Class 5 Drivers License

• LFR, Wildfire Mitigation Specialist designation

• Successful Canada Criminal Record Check

• Knowledge of wildfire behavior and management

• Ability to present effectively in group settings
