Job ResponsibilitiesThe Nurse IV‑Nursing Quality Administrator works under minimal supervision reporting directly to the Chief Nurse Executive (CNE). The Nursing Quality Administrator is responsible for promoting and maintaining quality individual care in accordance with accepted and approved Nursing standards of practice and regulatory requirements. Performs advanced senior level nursing work with major responsibilities to include program area inspections, compliance surveys, medication management, nurse treatment planning and training oversight, and evaluating the outcomes of the nursing care delivery system.
The Nursing Quality Administrator is also responsible for administrative practice; performance appraisal; fostering collegiality; ethical decision making; collaboration with all departments; integrating, educating, and interpreting research and theories; development of guidelines to ensure compliance with regulatory standards; and assisting the CNE in resource utilization.
Will develop, interpret, and implement policies and directives of HHSC, state hospital operating procedures, and local policies. Is an active member of nursing leadership and various hospital committees. Can be assigned to cover duties of CNE and Assistant CNE in their absence as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned, including but not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.
This position may also be eligible to earn additional pay for work performed on maximum security locations.
Essential Job Functions (EJFs)Attends work on a regular basis and may be asked to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
Regularly makes rounds to individual program areas performing inspections with a focus on performance improvement initiatives and compliance with state and federal laws, rules and regulations. Performs mock compliance surveys for ongoing survey readiness and preparation. Identifies areas of failure and concerns making recommendations for needed improvements.
Evaluates the provision of individual care by review and audits of medical records and person‑centered recovery plans to determine accuracy and compliance with laws, rules, and regulations as they relate to delivery of nursing standards of care. Reviews current…
