Interior Health is seeking an experienced and dynamic Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our Medical Laboratory Department at Vernon Jubilee Hospital in Venron, BC. Vernon Jubilee Hospital (VJH) is in the Okanagan health service area and responsible for providing core medical and surgical specialty services to patients throughout its service area. Located in Vernon, between Kelowna and Kamloops, VJH offers services including core physician specialties, Laboratory, 24-hour emergency and trauma services, acute and obstetrical care.
Medical Laboratory Assistants perform a variety of duties such as taking blood and specimen samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, performing routine lab tests, distributing specimens to departments and outside Labs, operating related equipment, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and performing related clerical duties and ECG testing as required.
This is a Relief Full Time (1.00) opportunity until the return of the incumbent.
Shifts of work will be scheduled rotating days, evenings and nights.

Grade 12, successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program, plus one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Canadian Driver’s License as required by position
Ability to type 25 WPM
