Network Administrator Vernon, BC (100% On‑Site)
The Network Administrator is an intermediate level position responsible for performing analytical, technical, and support work in the design, planning, implementation, documentation, and administration of all network infrastructures. In addition, the Administrator manages small to medium‑sized network projects and the day‑to‑day operational tasks such as proactive maintenance, management, monitoring performance, incident and problem management, security, and backup and recovery across the network infrastructure.
Responsibilities- Document and administer all network infrastructures.
- Serve as a technical troubleshooter on complex networking issues.
- Maintain network security and access control.
- Create and maintain documentation of network topology and configurations.
- Perform or oversee network maintenance duties.
- Contribute to detailed design documents.
- Proactively identify ongoing cost optimization, performance enhancement, and growth strategies.
- Perform research and analysis for potential technology solutions to business needs.
- Seek opportunities to automate or streamline manual tasks.
- Deliver emerging technology presentations.
- Stay up‑to‑date with technical and industry developments.
- Assist others in the performance of their duties as required.
- Adhere to established processes and procedures within the IS Department.
- Establish and maintain close working relationships with vendors and service providers.
- Prepare and deliver informative, well‑organized presentations and communications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Support end users as required to provide a positive customer experience, including after‑hour coverage.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate networking activities.
- May lead small to medium‑sized network infrastructure lifecycle upgrade projects.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Network Administrator for a medium to large enterprise with complex technology environments.
- Knowledge of Cisco Routing and Switching devices, Meraki and Ruckus Wireless Technologies, Palo Alto Firewall Appliances, Load Balancers, Versa SD‑WAN, VOIP Telephony, Network performance and monitoring tools.
- Post‑secondary graduate with a degree, diploma or certificate in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Ability to participate in on‑call after‑hours support rotation is required.
- Evening and occasional weekend work will be required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- The target compensation for this role is $88,270 – $102,640 per year based on experience.
