Visual Language Interpreter School District

Make an impact as a Visual Language Interpreter in School District No. 22 (Vernon). This full-time, 10-month position focuses on utilizing your ASL skills to enhance educational experiences for students.

Applicants need to have completed a recognized Interpreter Training Program and be registered with an accredited ASL interpreter body. With a minimum of one year of experience, you’ll ensure effective communication and a supportive environment for students with hearing loss through your collaborative efforts and understanding of Deaf culture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide sign language interpretation and support services

• Work collaboratively with teaching staff and students

• Enhance communication with tech proficiency and literacy

• Ensure confidentiality in all interactions

• Organize tasks effectively under varying priorities

Requirements:

• Completion of Grade 12 and Interpreter Training Program

• Registration with an accredited ASL interpreter body

• One year of sign language interpreting experience

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Experience as an Education Assistant is beneficial
