Edible Rendering Operator

The Edible Rendering Operator is responsible for tending equipment used to render and process animal source material including animal fat trimming.

• Completes inspection of equipment to determine if sanitation is adequate to begin rendering process.
• Tests equipment to determine proper functioning.
• Check tank availability/levels and manipulate valves to set the tank to be used.
• Remove product from tempering cooler, using powered lift vehicle(s), and securing product into the dumper.
• Log information on product such as lot number, weight, source company, start time.
• Opens valves and starts pumps and conveyors to move materials through rendering process.
• Monitors temperature gauges, rate of flow, and condition of materials passing through cookers, expellers, and grinders; adjusts valves and rate of flow.
• Execute basic preventative maintenance including disassembly of centrifuges for the purposes of replacing gaskets, o-rings, and checking oil in gearboxes.
• Contacts maintenance mechanics for troubleshooting equipment malfunctions.
• Operate powered lift vehicles and hand trucks to move raw material combo bins.
• Other duties and projects as assigned.
