COMMISSARY COOK
The successful candidate will work 5 days / 40 hours per week. Shifts may be scheduled as early as 5:00 AM and finish as late as 5:00 PM and may include weekends.
Typical Shift Times (may vary): Monday to Friday: 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

In our commissary, we are passionately creating delicious food made with carefully chosen organic, local sustainable ingredients: fresh products, ethically raised and grass-fed meat and dairy and products without additives or preservatives. Our customers love our fresh juices and smoothies, gourmet sandwiches and wraps, salads, hearty soups, entrees and an array of baked goods. And of course, we offer tasty options for a variety of food preferences including vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and paleo diets.

- Prepare, cut, portion, and cook various vegetables, salads, and soups for our bistro
- Maintain consistency by ensuring recipes are properly measured and by keeping a keen eye for detail
- Ensure freshness of our products and participate in proper rotation of stock in all areas of the kitchen
- Comply with rules about cleanliness and adhere to Work Safe, Food Safe and Nature’s Fare standards at all times
- Operate a wide range of kitchen equipment including knives, mandolins, burners, rational ovens, large stock kettles, large mixers, immersion hand blenders, food processor, etc.
- Support safety and efficiency by alerting the commissary manager to equipment failure, product shortages, and other issues in a timely manner
- Complete assigned daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks
- Contribute to and maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude
- Experience in volume food preparation as a prep or line cook is a plus but not necessary
- Education in related area considered an asset
- Food Safe Certificate - Level 1
- Knowledge of inventory control and food storage procedures an asset
- Knowledge of provincial health, sanitization, and safety regulations
