and certified a Great Place to Work®. We are looking for a Department Manager, Grocery to join our Buy-Low Foods location in Vernon, BC. The successful candidate must have open availability and be available for 40 hours per week.

• Leading the department, acting as a coach, mentor, and resource while fostering a positive team environment focused on Always Customer First service.
• Delivering operational excellence through customer experience, health and safety, food safety, and merchandising.
• Engaging and retaining team members through training, performance management, rewards/recognition, and succession planning.
• Communicating key messages and business objectives to team members in the department, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Reviewing and analyzing financial reports, identifying opportunities to improve performance, and presenting KPIs to the management team.
• Analyzing business/HR metrics and dashboards of the department.
• Supporting with implementing strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty.
• Leading inventory counts/period end of the department and resolving issues as required.
• Performing all job duties throughout the department as needed, including lifting weight (up to 50 lbs), standing for long periods of time, and working in hot/cold environments.

• 1-3 years of retail experience.
• Leadership experience is an asset.
• Food Safe Certification.
• A post-secondary education in a business related field is an asset.

• Achieving sales targets and profitability.
• Executing merchandising plans and creating in-store displays to drive sales.
• Human Resources (e.g. training, development, coaching and mentoring).
• Workforce planning and scheduling considerations.
• Health and safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
• Proficiency with computer applications.

• A leader that embodies and demonstrates our leadership competency model through communication, collaboration, initiative and emotional intelligence.
• An effective communicator, with interpersonal and relationship building skills.
• Proactive in taking initiative with an entrepreneurial mindset.

$24.00 - $32.00 The compensation offered for this position will take into consideration location, education, skills, experience, and other factors.
