Location: Lumby
White valley Community Resource Centre is looking to hire a Counsellor. Term: until March 31, 2027, with possible extension.
Hours:
35–40 hours per week (must be willing to work Fridays till 7 PM). Wage: $30–$35 per hour, depending on education and experience.
White valley Community Resource Centre is dedicated to the health and wellbeing of our community. We provide a broad range of programs and services that support children, youth, adults, seniors, and families. Our work is grounded in collaboration, early intervention, community connection, and helping individuals build on their strengths to achieve positive outcomes.
- Provide assessment, counselling, and therapeutic interventions for children, youth, adults, and families.
- Support individuals experiencing mental health concerns, emotional distress, substance use challenges, family conflict, parenting concerns, and other life stressors.
- Develop individualized service plans in collaboration with clients and community partners.
- Deliver services using evidence-informed, trauma-informed, culturally safe, and harm-reduction practices.
- Perform accurate record keeping, report writing, and correspondence.
- Identify and liaise with government, social, economic, recreational, and educational services/agencies in the community and area that will meet clients’ needs.
- Develop and implement therapeutic plans and programs in consultation with the ED, Clinical Supervisor, referring agent, and other related professionals.
- Masters and/or Bachelor of Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Human Services, or a related field. Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
- Experience providing counselling and support services to children, youth, adults, and families.
- Knowledge of mental health, substance use, family systems, child and youth development, and community-based service delivery.
- Understanding of strength-based, trauma-informed, culturally safe, and harm-reduction practices.
- Strong assessment, communication, documentation, and case management skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team setting.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
