How You Make a DifferenceThe LPN plays a vital role in patient care by contributing to the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—under the supervision of RNs. You will provide patient education and activities that align with their demonstrated competencies.
Key Responsibilities- Under RN supervision, assess patients’ physical, psychological, and social dimensions in both the Health Care Unit and housing units, contributing to individualized treatment planning and consulting with RNs and staff as needed.
- Implement treatment programs directed by Health Care Practitioners, administer medications (including IV therapy if certified), and perform diagnostic tests according to established protocols and procedures.
- Collaborate in controlled substance counts at the beginning of each shift, adhering to safety techniques, procedures, and standard precautions while responding to codes or health emergencies within standard guidelines.
- Assist in medical or minor surgical procedures, implement nutrition and therapeutic diet plans, and document nursing encounters using SOAP charting to ensure effective communication with nursing staff, physicians, and other relevant personnel.
- Attend mandatory staff meetings and training sessions, demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to policies and procedures in providing high‑quality patient care.
Education
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Experience
- Prefer a minimum of one year of clinic experience.
Licenses/Certifications
- Hold and maintain current licensure as a Licensed Practical or Licensed Vocational Nurse in the state of employment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
