JOB TITLE: Group Fitness Instructor

JOB SUMMARY: The Group Fitness Instructor is a member of the Bears Fit team and plays a key role in the company’s overall success. The Group Fitness Instructor (GFI) will prepare and lead a fun, safe and effective group class based on the class description, offering modifications for less experienced or more experienced clients as needed. The instructor will represent the club in a positive manner, greeting the clients as they enter and leave class.
WORK SCHEDULE: This is a part-time position. Your daily schedule will vary throughout the week depending on the needs of the club, the staff, and the members.
KEY PERFORMANCE EVALUATION FACTORS:
Ability to exemplify and live the company’s core valuesAbility to meet department goalsAbility to fulfill essential dutiesContribution and proactive participation as part of the company’s Group FitnessArrive 5 minutes early for all classes to prepare the room and greet clientsDress appropriately for all classesMaintain current and correct certifications for his/her format(s) as well as CPR certBegin and end classes on time per the monthly schedulePrepare and lead a fun, safe and effective class for all levels of participation based on class descriptionKeep studios orderly, lock stereo cabinet and use a microphone sponge coverMaintain an electronic record of classes taught or subbed, including attendance numbersWhen needed, secure substitute teacher(s) to cover your regular class or a class you have agreed to subNotify your Group Fitness Director (GFD) of all substitutes as early as possibleContact the club if you are running late and ask that someone from management notify your classPlease teach what is scheduled. If members want something different let the GFD know so a class can be addedAll written or verbal communication must be delivered in a positive mannerInstructors will always uphold the brand standards of Bears FitEXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND
EDUCATION:
A passion for health and wellness and the ability to influence people in overcoming their obstacles to exercising, joining a fitness club, and in making lifestyle changesEnjoy networking and building relationships - comfortable on the phone and in doing outreach in the communityCommitment to providing top notch customer service and some experience working in a fast-paced customer service roleComputer-savvy and proficient in using programs such as Word & ExcelTeam player who approaches challenges in a creative and positive mannerExperience in a sales environment focused on attaining revenue and unit goals is a plusThis position description intends to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job.
